Paying homage to three generations of inventors – Léon, Gaston & Willy Breitling – the Premier Duograph displays Breitling’s watchmaking expertise with its split second complication. As Willy Breitling said, the Premier is an “unmistakable stamp of impeccable taste”. This latest generation of Premier chronographs brings its timeless elegance back to life, and showcases Breitling’s highest level of watchmaking thanks to a range of iconic Premier complications: the Chronograph, the Duograph and the Datora. Featuring rectangular chronograph pushers, bi-compax chronograph look and Arabic numerals, the heritage-revived Premier chronographs display a variety of elegant design details such as grooves on the case-sides, open sapphire casebacks and vintage-inspired hands.
The Duograph comes in two variations: in stainless steel with a blue dial and a gold brown alligator strap or in 18k red gold with a black dial and a black alligator strap. “Duograph” was a term used by Breitling in the 1940s and refers to a “chronograph rattrapante". A rattrapante (from the French “rattraper” – to catch up) is one of the most elaborate of all watch complications. In terms of manufacturing difficulty, it’s on a par with the tourbillon and minute repeater. Its function is to measure two elapsed times at once (intermediate and split time), which it shows via two hands on the central chronograph. The Duograph is powered by the manually wound cosc-certified Breitling Manufacture Caliber B15, featuring two patented innovations: one to simplify the mechanism and the other to improve accuracy.
- Brushed & polished 18kt rose gold case.
- Black dial.
- Polished hands, the hour & minute hands with luminous fill.
- Applied polished numeral hour markers.
- Tachymeter scale on the dial flange.
- Fine printed minutes, seconds & fractions of a second track.
- Small seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock.
- Split-Seconds Chronograph function:
- Rattrapante or Split-second feature controlled by the button at the center of the crown.
- Dual 60 seconds large central counter hands: The 2 hands are stacked one directly above the other. Once the stopwatch is engaged the two hands run in sync as one, when the split-second button is pushed the bottom hand stops while the top hand continues to run.
- 30 minute counter sub-dial at 3 o'clock.
- Breitling in-house manual winding caliber b15, beats at 28,800 vph (4Hz), contains 27 jewels & has an approximate power reserve of 70 hours.
