Building on their esteemed reputation amongst pilots, Breitling originally designed the Colt to be supplied to the armed forces in the 1980s. They specified a robust, legible and highly accurate watch to be Chronometer-accurate in an initially relatively affordable package. It quickly became a cult favourite and production boomed until the 2000s, when it saw its manufacture updated to cutting edge standards in 2006 in the form of the Colt II, featuring an automatic movement. The rotating bezel and the chapter and tracking rings, designed to allow for distance and speed calculations on the fly, making for a sparser dial than many pilot's watches, ideal for an everyday wear. The sapphire crystal prevents glare, and the watch is protected from the depths of the ocean too thanks to its screw-down crown and sturdy construction. The white dial features concentric rings which catch the light beautifully, and features a date eye at 3:00.
