The Case:

The Maurice LaCroix Aikon Chronograph AI1018-PVB01-337-1 features a sharp barrel styled brushed steel case is another classy touch. It measure in at 44mm. Another addition is the 10 minute ‘Claws’ that sit on the bezel, this is an opulent design feature common in luxurious watches such as the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, amongst others. The inclusion of oversized crew down pushers make the size of the watch even more prominent. Although the watch’s dimensions and size does make it a relatively heavy model, the tapered angles of the case and integrate lugs provide the wearer with a comfortable fit on their wrist.

The Dial:

One of the most significant visual changes that distinguishes it from the traditional Aikon is the smooth finish on the dial. This finish is known as sun-brushed, giving off the same effect as if the sun was striking the dial. The silver, elegant, applied hour markers are rectangular in shape, which adds a touch of class to the dial, which equally underscores the craftsmanship behind this mode. Likewise, the silver sword hands are made from rhodium, which is a platinum based material renowned for its highly reflective and resistant qualities.

Tasteful dashes of blue form a motif that is present throughout the dial, as well as on the watch’s strap too. Notably, through the seconds hand and the rehaut minute track that runs around the dial. The rehaut also gives the watch a level deepness. Arguably the most definitive feature of the dial is the 3 snailed counter chronograph sub dials that also incorporate the black on blue motif. The Strap:

Functions:

The piece features a traditional look: a three-hand display with a chronograph, day-date function and updated movement. The chronograph function is  perfect for measuring a run in the park. The chronograph used on this watch has an accuracy down to a tenth of a second (seen at 12 o’clock) and a measuring capacity of 30 minutes (seen at nine o’clock). Furthermore, the sub-dial seen at 6 o’clock is a small seconds display which again is common amongst classical watches.

This watch has a water resistance of 100 metres, making it suitable for swimming and snorkelling.
